Improvements and Outcome Measurement

It is necessary to measure and monitor outcomes in order to improve them. You also cannot manage what you do not measure. But measuring and monitoring alone are not sufficient in making lasting improvements. To improve outcomes for an individual child, a program, or a system, information collected must be used to:

  • Establish baselines, trends and desired states;
  • Identify strengths and areas for improvement;
  • Develop action plans; and decision-making that matches each child's or client's needs;
  • Monitor interventions and their impact on outcomes;

COMET is designed to:

  • Provide all users with frequent and real-time feedback on the progress of their children or clients;
  • Deliver consistently higher quality information services;
  • Reduce time that teachers and other providers spend on administrative tasks and increase the time they spend with children or clients;
  • Improve the likelihood that students and other clients will reach their full potential for their age and ability.
