Brighton Central Schools implemented a universal screening program using COMET and the Teacher-Child Rating Scale to improve student services and outcomes through a better understanding of individual social-emotional health. The Brighton Central School District in upstate New York is located in a familyoriented community offering excellent public services and recreation to residents of all ages.
Brighton routinely ranks at the top of both state and national lists of high performing districts. However, they also had about 7% of students who don’t graduate. In 2009 the district set out to understand more about these students and why they struggle.
